Effect of COVID-19 on SA-TIED: some disruptions but work continues

The Southern Africa – Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) programme will continue delivering on our mandates during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Some areas of programme operations however will be subject to temporary disruption during the pandemic – updates will be provided on our website and social media.

Meetings and Events

All SA-TIED meetings, events, and seminars scheduled to take place in the coming months are put on hold until further notice.

Access to the National Treasury Secure Data Facility

Outside access to the data lab is restricted until 20 April 2020.  Any inquires on the Secure Data Facility can be sent to UNU-WIDER Research Associate, Amina Ebrahim (amina@wider.unu.edu).

SA-TIED programme support  

Following the Finnish Government’s announcement on 15 March 2020, Helsinki-based SA-TIED personnel have been requested to work from home starting Tuesday 17 March until 13 April (to be reassessed as needed). Project coordination support will continue to operate as normal. For more information, please read UNU-WIDER’s response to the coronavirus pandemic here.

Following the South African Government’s announcement on 23 March 2020, Pretoria-based SA-TIED personnel have been requested to work from home starting 23 March 2020 until 20 April 2020 (to be reassessed as needed). Coordination of research related to the tax data has been put on hold. The team will be focusing on aspects that support researchers’ work on the tax data.
