Researchers meeting: Africa industrial development and integration

The SA-TIED programme's work stream on 'Regional Growth and Development for Southern Africa’s Prosperity' is holding a meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe with research institutes from across Southern Africa to share knowledge of the research undertaken recently, discuss proposals for new research projects, and assess overall progress in the project.

As part of an earlier phase of the project the researchers have been meeting on a regular basis in different countries across the region. These regional workshops have previously taken place in Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa. The meeting will be attended by researchers from research institutes in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and Zambia; and will be joined by officials from UNU-WIDER and the South African Department of Trade and Industry.

‘Regional growth for southern Africa’s prosperity’-Work Stream builds on - and benefits from - several years of work undertaken by Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), Centre for Competition Regulation and Economic Development (CCRED) and several regional economic research institutes, including Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR), Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA), The Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (ZEPARU).
