Work in progress meeting - Public revenue mobilization

Researchers from the Public revenue mobilization for inclusive development work stream will meet in Pretoria to share their works in progress. The annual work in progress meeting provides an opportunity for researchers to share the progress of their work and to explore areas for research advancement.

The Public revenue mobilization work stream has contributed to the development of individual and firm-level tax datasets for research purposes and is in the process of producing several detailed studies that contribute to the process of evidence-based policy formulation in South Africa.

SA-TIED researchers will present here ongoing research on tax policy issues, such as the distributional impact of VAT increases, options for corporate income tax reform, the use of labour subsidies to encourage youth employment and skills advancement, and other policy-relevant research using newly available tax data.

Policies that promote inclusive development need to be built on reliable facts. The research that will be presented here is one way that the SA-TIED research community supports a sustained and inclusive development path for South Africa and the region.
