UNU-WIDER at IIPF Conference 2023
The IIPF, a worldwide organization of public finance economists, will encompass approximately 750 members from over 50 countries. Within an increasingly specialized academic landscape, the IIPF will continue to foster intellectual exchanges among experts in public finance.
The apex of the Institute's annual agenda will remain its congress, serving as the primary platform for various initiatives. These will encompass organizing academic gatherings, facilitating the exchange of knowledge between academics and practitioners representing diverse nationalities, and recognizing exceptional academic achievements.
The central theme for the 2023 IIPF conference will revolve around behavioral public finance, an amalgamation of behavioral economics and public economics intended to enhance the evaluation of real-world policies. The conference will spotlight behavioral public finance frameworks across numerous domains, including taxation, regulation, and nudges.
One of the presentations will be delivered by Amina Ebrahim, a UNU-WIDER Research Fellow, titled "Income Inequality in South Africa," scheduled for August 15th at 9:45 am. This presentation will be aligned with UNU-WIDER's Southern Africa – Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) programme.
